supply government agencies with translations of unclassified foreign
documents consisting of the following works not available in English:
periodical and newspaper articles
trade and commercial statistics reports
military documents and special reports
other selective source material
The translations are prepared by linguists and researchers. The
documents, selected by area specialists, are considered to be important
source material for research in the social sciences, science,
technology, political science, economics, and international relations.
