A wonderful database of "human sciences," which covers many humanistic fields such as literature and history in addition to social sciences. In French academia, too, many scholars of "human sciences" or social sciences look at this nexus. Many "continental" philosophers, a vague term under which many are categorized, are social or human scientists and their theories stem from their direct scientific research but are largely adapted into other fields, e.g. Jaques Lacan, Bruno Latour, Pierre Bourdieu

(Content and interface in French)The Great Corpus of French and Francophone literature (from the Middle Ages to the 20th century) provides full-text access to over 14,000 texts and about 300 authors complete works. Four full-text literature databases published by Classiques Garnier Numrique are included:

A cooperative project established in 1981 by the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique and the University of Chicago. 2000 texts, from classic works of French literature to non-fiction prose and technical writing: novels, poetry, theater, journalism, essays, correspondence, treatises. Subjects: literary criticism, biology, history, economics, and philosophy. A Provenal database includes texts in original languages. CRL is a consortium of North American academic and independent research libraries. The consortium acquires and preserves newspapers, journals, documents, archives, and other traditional and digital resources for research and teaching and makes them available to member institutions through ILL. CRL holds over four million newspapers, journals, dissertations, archives, government publications, and other traditional and digital resources for research and teaching. Holdings include such diverse materials as 800,000 doctoral dissertations (including those of Albert Einstein, Dag Hammarskjold and other Nobel laureates); some of the earliest African-American newspapers; and the 100,000-plus-page archive of Cambodia's Khmer Rouge security force. Emphasis is on materials produced outside the United States, and the Center has special strength in publications and archives from many developing nations.
