The University of Maryland Library serves as a regional depository library under the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP), established by the Government Printing Office (GPO) in 1813. The goal of the FDLP is to ensure that the public has access to information created by its government, and FDLP depository libraries collect, maintain, preserve and assist users in accessing that information. The University of Maryland Libraries serve as a regional depository library for Maryland, Delaware, and Washington, D.C.
