How To Use News Media

News media include newspapers; online news outlets; magazines; newsletters; broadcast video and transcripts; newswires; press releases; radio; and blogs. They're typically considered primary sources and are usually published within hours, days, or weeks of an event.

Use news media to...

  • Find identifying information about a policy/statement and trace back to the original source.
  • Assess audience responses to a current or historical policy/statement.
