Students, faculty, and staff members at the University of Maryland College Park now have free access to The New York Times. Access includes the main news website; The New York Times in Higher Education site; and The New York Times Cooking and Games sections, The Athletic, and Wirecutter. Access is through a subscription provided by the University of Maryland Libraries.
The New York Times website covers a variety of topics with unsurpassed quality and depth through breaking news articles, blogs, videos, and interactive features. In addition, you will be able to share content on social networks, save articles of interest, subscribe to email newsletters, and set up personalized alerts. Your access to The New York Times website is available from any location, on or off campus. This libguide will detail how to create a new account or claim your all-access pass if you already have a New York Times Account.
If you do not have a New York Times account, you can create a new one at this point. If you already have a New York Times account you can click "log in here" below and register your current account with access.
For students, the Academic Pass is valid until your December 31 of your graduation year (which it asks for when you create your account).
For faculty and staff, the Academic Pass is valid for 4 years. You will need to re-activate your account when it expires. Make note of your expiration date when it appears on the "Start Your Access" page.
If you don’t remember the date, simply repeat the steps for activating the pass and you will get verification of your pass, along with the date it expires.
Your New York Times All Access Academic Pass provides full access to NYT apps; visit http://nytimes.com/mobile to download. To access these apps, users must first create a New York Times account, and claim the Academic All Access Pass. These apps can be found in the major app stores for Android, Apple, and Google.
