The Basics - Getting Started with WorldCat UMD

WorldCat UMD is a discovery tool that searches libraries worldwide and allows you to search multiple high quality sources at one time. 

New to WorldCat UMD?  Just type in one or two keywords.  WorldCat will give you a Google-like experience.

Advanced searcher? Explore the Advanced Search page, from the Advanced Search page click on 'Add / Remove Databases', and use index labels

Searching off-campus? 

For best performance, log-in from the University of Maryland, College Park menu drop-down, on upper left of the WorldCat UMD screen

Search Results

Materials that are available to people at the College Park campus will be in the top results. 

Click on the title of the item you want.  Next scroll down and see what options you have for accessing it, for example, the page may say "Find a copy online," "View full text," or "Find a copy in the Library." 

To save the source for later: look at the top right hand corner and use one of these options so you find the item again.
