In your second year in the Gemstone Honors Program, your librarian is a vital part of your team! Below are the ways that your team librarian can support you in the second year of Gemstone:

• Help with developing a search strategy to find initial research about your project;
• Help setting up your team's Zotero account;
• Help with determining the scope of your research topic.
• Help with completing your literature review, research proposal, and proposal defense;
• Help with submitting an application to the Gemstone Library Awards.

Fall Semester Librarian Meeting Checklist

Before your Meeting

• Share all relevant team documents with your librarian.
• Share your goals for your literature review and your research proposal.
• Develop a team plan for communicating with your librarian.
• Optional: Include a list of questions you have in advance for your librarian to answer.

During your Meeting

• Introduce your team librarian to your research topic.
• Share current strategies you are using for your literature review and ask for recommendations from your team librarian and other search strategies.
• Set up your team Zotero.
• Confirm your citation style that you will use for your research.
• Confirm if you will need patent, AI, or copyright research support.

Spring Semester Librarian Meeting Checklist

Before your Meeting

• Share all relevant team documents with your librarian.
• Share your goals for your research proposal defense.
• Share a draft or the completed version of your application for the Gemstone Library Awards, if the team is applying.
• Optional: Include a list of questions you have in advance for your librarian to answer.

During your Meeting

• Discuss the progress your team has made and your goals for the semester.
• Review your team's research proposal. Allow your librarian to share feedback on the proposal and recommendations for additional literature or research tools.
• Share information about your teams' ideas for data collection and analysis.
• Share updates about your team's profile in Open Science Framework or discuss what should be included in your team's profile.
• Discuss upcoming hallmark events with your librarian.
• Prepare or review application for the Gemstone Library Awards.
