Cite Your Sources

A citation generator is an online tool that automatically creates properly formatted citations for sources like books, articles, and websites in styles such as APA, MLA, or Chicago. By providing the URL, DOI or manually inputting basic details (e.g., author, title, date), the tool generates a citation ready to copy and paste into a bibliography or reference list.  Citation generators are simple to use as they don't require any downloads or installation however, they are generally best used for smaller citation lists.  The citation generators listed below are some of the best.

Be aware: citation tools are only as good as the metadata they have to work with! It's always a good idea to check your citations for accuracy and make corrections when needed. A style guide such can be useful tool for this.
