Books are helpful for getting lots of information about different aspects of a topic (including the life of a historical figure), or to get ideas for research. You can also use their reference lists to find other sources, including primary sources like newspaper articles and images. The Libraries have both print and eBooks.
Academic journal articles usually go in-depth about one specific topic. You might find scholarly articles written about your historical figure that analyzes their work and life.
