HIST 208F: Maryland History, Culture, Virtues, and Vices, 17th Century to the Present (Jane Polcen)

The State Archives serves as the central depository for government records of permanent value. Its holdings date from Maryland's founding in 1634, and include colonial and state executive, legislative, and judicial records; county probate, land, and court records; church records; business records; state publications and reports; and special collections of private papers, maps, photographs, and newspapers.

The Maryland Center for History and Culture — formerly the Maryland Historical Society — is the oldest continuously operating nonprofit cultural institution in the state. It houses a collection of 7 million books, documents, manuscripts, and photographs, and 350,000 objects in its museum and library located in Baltimore.

The Historical Collections Department serves as an archival repository for the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Historical Collections documents the history and accomplishments of the graduate, dental, medical, nursing, pharmacy, and social work schools. The collection includes university publications, manuscript collections, and selected primary source documents dating back to the University's nineteenth century origins.
