HIST 208J: Making Maryland: History, Culture, Virtues, and Vices of the Old-Line State (Jane Polcen)

Introduction

The purpose of this guide is to help students in HIST 208J locate and access secondary and primary sources, both online and print.  Note that because of the pandemic, access to materials owned by the UMD Libraries is restricted.  It is not possible to visit the stacks in campus libraries, and books have to be ordered for curbside pickup.  Consult the UMD LIbraries' updates for the latest news on opening and availability.

Most of the resources included in this guide are subscription resources which the UMD Libraries purchase.  Current students, faculty, and staff have access to them after logging in with directory ID and password.  Some resources included here are made freely available by libraries and educational institutions.

If you have questions about access or are having trouble finding something, contact Eric N. Lindquist, UMD history librarian.  You can schedule a consultation here.
