LibX Guide

How the LibX toolbar can enhance your library experience.

Overview

The search bar in the LibX add-on is configured to allow you to search by a variety of methods. These options are on the left side of the search bar.

If you click the little circle icon to the right of the search bar you can add another search term to your search. To the right of that you can choose where to search. The preset options are our library catalog (CatalogUSMAI), FindIt at UMCP, Worldcat UMD, and Google Scholar.

You can maximize the video below by clicking the box in the lower right corner.

Selected Text Search

Selecting text with your mouse and right clicking it will provide some useful search options with the LibX add-on.

You can search for your selected text:

  • In our catalog by keyword, author, or title.
  • In FindIt as a journal title.
  • In Worldcat UMD or Google Scholar as a keyword.

Please note that when you search by title in our catalog, you are actually doing a "title beginning with" search and when you search by author in our catalog, you are actually doing an "author beginning with" search.
