Recording Instruction Statistics for Remote Teaching / Learning

Recording Instruction Statistics for Online Learning:

All instruction can and should be recorded in LibInsight. Remember, teaching is still teaching, even when it looks different than it did before :)

  • Do not batch your instruction statistics; enter them as you go, and at the minimum, at the end of each week
  • We have added an additional option under "audience" for "library staff" - so if you host a zoom practice session for your colleagues or internal online training, we can record those things!
  • You can select as many types of instruction that are appropriate to your situation

Types of Instruction

Synchronous online sessions (live sessions offered through Zoom, WebEx, etc.)
  • Type of instruction: equivalent to in-person and can be entered as one-shot instruction, follow-up/second session, workshop, etc.

  • Number of Attendees: Number of seats in Testudo for the course

  • Total instructional time (in minutes): Approximate amount of time that you spend teaching OR the amount of time listed in Testudo for the course (either is fine)

Asynchronous online tools (course guides, recorded videos, etc.)
  • Type of instruction: "online instructional tool"

  • Number of Attendees: Number of seats in Testudo for the course

  • Total instructional time (in minutes): Approximate amount of time that you expect students will need to complete the instructional tool OR amount of time listed in Testudo for the course OR 60 minutes (any of these three options is fine; when you are not sure, just list 60 mins as the default)

Combination of approaches (for example, creating a course guide for the faculty to share with students, recording short screencast and give to the instructor to put in ELMS, and offering a drop-in web-ex room where students can stop by and ask questions)
  • Type of instruction: (check all that apply) - in this scenario, it would be "online instructional tool" (for the course guide and screencast) AND "in-person session" (for the WebEx drop-in session for students)

  • Number of Attendees: Number of seats in Testudo for the course

  • Total instructional time (in minutes): approximate amount of time that you expect the video, course guide, etc. to take + the amount of time you spend either meeting with students (this is an estimate and does not have to be exact; if you are not sure, just put 60 mins as the default)
