Navigating search results & "click restraint"

Now that you have seen a high-level overview of how search engines produce and rank results, let's consider how to navigate those results more effectively. The first part of this video reviews how search engines like Google work, and then introduces the strategy of click restraint—slowing down on search results so that you make a wiser choice about where to click first.

As you watch, consider the following questions:

  • Which search results do most users tend to click? Why might that be a problem?
  • What is "click restraint" and why is it useful?
