To look for books and other publications on the history of Black education, start with this Book search: "African Americans education". Add other terms, such as elementary, secondary, higher, segregation, integration, or a geographical term (Baltimore, southern states) to narrow results.
You can often find primary sources by specifying a particular publication date or range of dates in the past. To do so, used the Advanced Search option.
