Special Collections in Performing Arts (SCPA) at the Michelle Smith Performing Arts Library of the University of Maryland Libraries contains performing arts collections that preserve performance, education, recordings, and scholarship. 

This guide is designed to help students and researchers navigate the many resources on American band history available for use in the Special Collections in Performing Arts (SCPA), part of the Michelle Smith Performing Arts Library at the University of Maryland.

Band-related archival collections at SCPA include:

• The American Bandmasters Association Research Center, which includes:
• the ABA Archives (including the Sousa/Ostwald Award)
• Personal papers of ABA members
• ABA score collections
• ABA recording collections
• The Midwest Clinic Archives
• College Band Directors National Association Archives
