Joint Publications Research Service (JPRS) Collection at UM Libraries  

JPRS is a government organization established in 1957 to supply the government with translations of unclassified foreign documents. This is important source material for research in the social sciences, science, political science & intl relations.

JPRS is a government organization established in March of 1957 to supply government agencies with translations of unclassified foreign documents consisting of the following works not available in English:

  • periodical and newspaper articles
  • scholarly journals
  • trade and commercial statistics reports
  • military documents and special reports
  • other selective source material

The translations are prepared by linguists and researchers. The documents, selected by area specialists, are considered to be important source material for research in the social sciences, science, technology, political science, economics, and international relations.
