This guide to the basics of literary research is intended for students in English 408A: Literature by Women Before 1800: Medieval Women Writers. It includes some of the most important tools for finding books and articles in the field of English and American literature, as well as helpful tips for using those resources. The emphasis is on material available in the University of Maryland Libraries' collections, but some Internet sources are also included.
