Many manuscript and primary source collections in the Libraries are available only in microform format. Microforms are any form, either film, card or print, containing copies of the original documents. Although not complete because of the difficulties in keeping up, the Microform Collections in the UMD Libraries list might be of some help in finding microform documents. Each of the collections included in this list contains a very informative description, which is extremely helpful for research.
All of our microform collections are found in the Catalog. Most of the microforms are located in the current periodicals room on the first floor of McKeldin Library. Many of Government Documents microforms could also be considered primary documents for your research and are located on the 4th floor of McKeldin Library.
