A guide to fine press books available in Special Collections and University Archives.

About Dryad Press

The Dryad Press began as Dryad magazine, a literary journal co-founded by Merrill Leffler and Neil Lehrman in 1967 in the Washington, D.C., area. In 1974, the press published its first book and has since published primarily volumes of poetry but expanded to fiction and non-fiction books. Many of the authors published by Dryad Press are associated with the state of Maryland, by birth, education, or current residence. For most of its existence, Dryad Press has been based in Takoma Park, Maryland, home of Merrill Leffler. Many Dryad publications also listed an office in San Francisco, where Neil Lehrman resided.
