Strategies for Finding Statistics

Still not finding what you need in the sites listed above? Here are some strategies for finding statistics on the Internet.

  1. Search a dataset database from the libraries (ex: Statistical Data).
  2. Use a statistics subject list or "metasite" where an individual or group has compiled many Internet sites that contain statistics (e.g.,
  3. Search a bibliographic database in Database Finder (e.g., PubMed, CINAHL, etc.).
  4. Find organizations that collect health statistics using Google. For example, type in "National Center for Health Statistics" (use quotes).
  5. Review the reference list of published articles to find additional sources of data.
