UM Libraries - Locations and Hours

There are eight libraries in the University of Maryland system. Seven are at College Park, and one is at the Shady Grove Campus near Rockville.

Equipment Loan Program

Borrow a laptop, e-reader, camera or charger through the Libraries Equipment Loan Program.

Four libraries on campus now offer equipment loan programs: McKeldin Library, White Chemistry LibraryLibrary Media Services and Engineering and Physical Sciences Library (EPSL).

Though not all libraries offer the same equipment, the following devices are available for loan to students at the McKeldin Library Terrapin Learning Commons (TLC):

  • Laptops - 12 Dell Vostro, 11 MacBook Pro, 13 MacBook Air
  • Netbooks - 5 Dell Inspiron Mini
  • Tablets - 7 iPad 2, 5 iPad (1st gen), 5 ViewSonic gTablet
  • E-book readers - 5 Sony Reader Daily Edition
  • Cameras - 3 Nikon Coolpix L120 still cameras and 3 Sony Bloggie Duo video cameras
  • Noise-reduction headphones - 16 Cyber Acoustics
  • Universal* laptop chargers - 5 Ultra X-Pro charger (*fits most brands except Apple/Mac)
  • MacBook chargers - 12 MacBook chargers for various, recent models
  • HDMI and VGA cables - standard 10ft HDMI to HDMI and VGA to VGA cables (can be used with monitors in group study rooms)
  • HDMI and VGA adapters - various adapters including mini-DVI to VGA, mini-DisplayPort to HDMI/DVI and VGA (can be used with our MacBooks), and iPad to HDMI and VGA
  • Universal USB phone chargers15  chargers that come with a 6-foot USB extension cable and a USB wall adapter
