AskUs! about WorldCat UMD

  • Email the WorldCat UMD reflector: worldcat@umd.edu.
  • From within WorldCat UMD, you can go to the University of Maryland, College Park menu and then click Ask Us! This will give you a form that you can fill out. The recipient of the form is actually the WorldCat UMD reflector, so either option goes to the same place. Note this does not go through the same Ask Us queue as the one offered on the Libraries’ home page.

  • You can also send feedback directly to OCLC by going to the WorldCat menu and choosing Feedback. This option is if you want to offer a suggestion to OCLC. In some cases, what seems like a WorldCat problem is actually a local problem, or can be solved locally, so if you are unsure, it is probably better to submit feedback using options 1 or 2.

Help with WorldCat UMD

WorldCat’s own help file is available through WorldCat UMD under the WorldCat menu. You can also get to it directly: http://www.oclc.org/support/help/worldcat/ApplicationHelp.htm

It contains advanced techniques, including truncation symbols, wildcards, and working with the Web 2.0 features like sharing to social networks and adding your own tags.
