Victorian Literature

This guide will help you locate resources for the study of Victorian literature. The emphasis is on material available in the University of Maryland Libraries, but some Internet sources are also included.

Finding Books in the UM and other Libraries

This is the basic search box for Worldcat, the best place to identify books and other materials owned by the UM Libraries and other libraries around the world.  Choose the "Worldcat" tab and enter search terms in the box to get started. Don't worry about being too precise at first; you can easily narrow down your results later to books, publication date, etc. You can also click Advanced Search for more precise search options.

Finding a Copy in the BTAA Libraries

If you need a book in a hurry that the UMD Libraries do not own and it is available from the Big Ten Academic Alliance you can request it though UBorrow on the Libraries HomePage (see directions below.)   The turn around time is very quick and you can keep the book for 3 months.

Select the UBorrow option, type the title of the book and click search.  This will take you to the record of the book in the UBorrow catalog.  Follow the directions to request the book.  NOTE:  There has to be at least one book that is "requestable."
