Reference books are a great place to start when looking for information.
These works have been thouroughly researched and vetted by scholars and if worth their salt, include helpful footnotes, citations and bibliographies. (Unlike a lot of information you find online!)
So before you get your Google or Wikipedia on, come down to MSPAL's Reference Section and check out some serious scholarship.
It may take a little longer to look things up (minutes rather than seconds), but the quality of the information will more than make up for it!
